Reconstruction of 1km of the R153 Kentstown Road out of Navan.
The ‘R153, ROAD IMPROVEMENTS AT ATHLUMNEY AND BAILIS, NAVAN’ project is located to the east of Navan on the R153 Regional Road known as Kentstown Road. The specific area of works lies between the Railway Bridge and Casey’s Cross and includes approximately 200 metres of road overlay and 750 metres of road reconstruction. Additional to the road reconstruction is the provision of new surface water drainage, new foul sewer services including a 600mm gravity main at depth, the replacement of an existing Asbestos Concrete watermain, the provision of broadband pits and ducting, diversions of existing ESB and Eircom services, Public Lighting works, boundary treatment works including wooden post and rail fences and masonry walls, and other associated finishing works such as signage and road markings.
Construction of the works will involve the following: Scarify 200 metres of existing road surface and overlay with wearing course. Excavation of 750 metres of existing road to proposed formation depth. Reinstatement and full depth construction of 750 metres of proposed road. Construction/reconstruction of footpaths in concrete and concrete paviors including vehicle entrances. Construction of proposed kerb lines in pre-cast concrete kerbs. Excavation of material to accommodate proposed new services and utilities. Construction of 600mm foul sewer in trenches up to 4 metres deep. Construction of additional foul sewers to provide new house connections. Construction of new storm water sewers and associated road gullies. Construction of new box-culvert and headwalls for existing watercourse. Removal of limited lengths of existing Asbestos Concrete watermain pipe. Excavation to top of existing Asbestos Concrete watermain and backfill with grout. Construction of replacement 160mm uPVC watermain and associated house connections. Construction of new broadband pits and ducting to Department of Communication Marine and Natural Resources standards. Relocation of existing ESB and Eircom services. Provision of additional ESB and Eircom services. Relocation of existing public lighting while existing remains in operation. Relocation of existing traffic signage. Application of road markings. In-situ plate load testing with minimum plate size of 450mm.
